Happy Caturday! 🐈 Meet the caracal (Caracal caracal). Some scientists think that the cat twitches the tassels on its ears to communicate with others (in addition to meowing, purring, hissing, and other feline vocalizations). It has a wide range, from most regions of Africa to parts of Asia, sticking to arid habitats like the savannah, semi-desert, and steppe. It’s the fastest cat of its size, running up to 50 miles per hour, and can jump as high as 10 feet (3 meters)! In fact, this hunter has a reputation for jumping up to swat birds out of the air for a meal. Other prey include small mammals like hyraxes and hares.
