【Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo's Design Story - Episode 1】
世界でも屈指の森林国といわれている日本。
四方を海に囲まれ、山脈に沿って生まれる雲が大地に豊かな雨をもたらし、森を育み、山々から流れでる川は山里を潤します。

この美しい日本の自然を、当館が所在する「日本橋」をキーワードに表現することを試みたとき、ホテルのあらゆる場所で「呉服=ファブリック」を用いて、日本の自然を表した当館のデザインコンセプト「森と水」を描くという発想が生まれました。

Japan is said to be one of the most densely forested countries in the world, despite its size in comparison. Surrounded by the sea on all sides, the clouds that form along the mountain ranges bring abundant rain to the land, nurturing these forests, and filling the rivers that flow from the mountains to moisten the forested lands. Inspired by the beauty of Japanese nature, “Woods and Water” became the inspirational theme and formed the underlying design concept of Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo.

We use the word "Nihonbashi ", where we are located, to express the theme of “Woods and Water”, capturing the essence of Japanese nature and using Japanese fabrics throughout the hotel.
