A little visitor exploring the thousands of children's faces in Steve McQueen's #Year3Project, offering a glimpse of his future -- a portrait of his fellow young Londoners.
The project features class portraits of over 76,000 year 3 students, covering every borough in the city. The artist considered year 3 age (between 7 and 8 years old) to be a key milestone in a child’s development and their sense of identity. It’s a time for them to develop confidence in all areas of life, to understand more about their place in a changing world and to think about what their future might be like. The installation captures a moment of excitement, anticipation and hope in the lives of these 76,146 children.
Steve McQueen’s #Year3Project is a partnership between Tate, @artangel_ldn and A New Direction, on free display until 31 January 2021.
