We’re marking World Photography Day with a nod to @NASAWebb and their Goddard-based photographer, Chris Gunn.

Gunn has been creating art for NASA since 2000, and is currently documenting the creation of the James Webb Space Telescope, set to launch in 2021.

1. This image, shot in 2017, shows the Webb telescope sitting inside Chamber A at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston following cryogenic testing.

2. Here's a view from overhead of the Webb telescope's primary mirror, with its secondary mirror booms stowed. This is the position that the secondary mirror will be in during launch.

3. In this photo, the Webb telescope is hanging upside down so the lift crew can install a new rollover fixture.

4. This is a self-portrait of Gunn in a “bunny suit,” which is required when entering a clean room.
