ナショナルジオグラフィックさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ナショナルジオグラフィックInstagram)「Photos by @renaeffendiphoto Less than a year ago, I was on assignment for @natgeo in Beirut, photographing these peaceful scenes on the waterfront in this enchanting city. It's horrifying and heartbreaking to see the images circulating of what these places look like today. On August 4, an enormous explosion rocked Beirut, wiping out the port and leveling entire neighborhoods. The shock wave from the blast, apparently caused by a stock of explosive chemicals, damaged and destroyed hospitals, shattered windows and doors across the city, and was so powerful it could be felt in Cyprus, 150 miles away. The devastation it caused is still emerging, with at least 135 people confirmed dead. Many are missing, and some remain trapped in the rubble and debris around the site of the explosion, while the city’s hospitals are overwhelmed by the influx of the 5,000 wounded. This disaster took place in a time of acute crisis, with the country’s economy starved amid the pandemic and the collapse of the local currency. While the city is in mourning, the search for survivors is ongoing and the rescue teams need urgent support today. Please consider donating to these reputable charities working toward disaster relief @impact.lebanon and @lebaneseredcross. Thank you!」8月6日 23時34分 - natgeo
