Photos by David Guttenfelder @dguttenfelder | No one here is waiting for a street sign or an official decree to rename this Minneapolis intersection as George Floyd Square. And no one is waiting to memorialize it, to act, to bring beauty and joy back here, to take back control of this spot and this city, disgraced by the death of George Floyd in policy custody on 38th Street and Chicago Ave. Since May 25, the neighborhood has become a round-the-clock center of protest against police brutality, calls for justice, and offerings of flowers and art and kindness.
On a recent night of thunderstorms, Nikko Rackz danced with others in the street as other protesters and mourners took shelter from the downpour. For more please follow @dguttenfelder.
