Along with this announcement of the show, I’d like to also inform you about Murata’s upcoming activities. Either at the end of 2019 or in early 2020, ceramicist Shin Murata and our Kaikai Kiki, in a joint venture, plan to open a store called Tonari no Murata. At the moment we are renovating a traditional townhouse (machiya) in Okazaki, Kyoto in earnest with the help of the architect Shigeki Okamoto. For about three years since 2016, moved by the future vision and narrative of Murata and his wife, Fusako, I have been assisting them in organizing the environment surrounding his ceramics production and in preparing their store. As we finally decided on the store location and got the renovation under way, Murata was diagnosed with cancer on August 7, 2019. Honestly, it was a tremendous shock.
