Camp 1 was set up beneath the caved-riddled cliffs that would be the focus of the work over the next three days. While polar bears are not common in this area, we still took the necessary precautions: The cooking tent was downwind from the sleeping tents by some distance, and we rigged an alarmed trip-wire fence around the sleeping quarters (seen here).
