This is the cookie-cutter shark (Isistius brasiliensis)—so named because it takes large, round, cookie-cutter shaped bites out of animals such as tuna, whales, dolphins and seals.
At about 20 inches long, these creatures approach their victims from below, latch on, bite and then twist, leaving a round hole. Not so cute, actually.

cubancarolyn @johnny.jay not all kill for food hon, some kill just for sport or just for fun! Some kill small animals and play with their dead bodies or just torture them! I don't think any life means less because they do what comes naturally to them and don't know or understand it's horrible! Cats don't kill for food always nor do dogs Always, they kill for amusement or fun too! All lives matter! 💚

johnny.jay @cubancarolyn all the animals you listed KILL for food. This shark just leaves its prey to get infected and suffer. You wouldn’t have respect for a human who behaves in such a way, why do you have respect for a fish that does?

drannywong Is this really a live one? Doesn’t look like the ones I have seen at the National Aquarium inside Dept of commerce building.
