Photos by Ronan Donovan @ronan_donovan | Two male mountain gorillas grapple on the slopes of a dormant volcano, Mount Karisimbi, in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. What looks like an epic fight is really just two blackbacks (young males): Agahebuzo, 12, and Ubwuzu, 10. They are called blackbacks because they haven’t yet grown the silver hairs that signify a fully mature male mountain gorilla. Each individual mountain gorilla alive today in Rwanda has a detailed record of their life history, thanks to the work of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International @savinggorillas.
