It belongs to the bovid family and inhabits both dry savanna and dense woodland. It prefers areas that provide a permanent supply of water and fresh grass. Habitat loss, lack of food (due to competition with domestic livestock), and viral diseases are major threats to their survival in the wild. However, they are currently thriving. This young guy is dozing gently on the camouflaged forest floor; young males are camouflaged by their color, which resembles a female's pattern.
