Photo by @Thomas Peschak | Sometimes making original or different images is less about technique and more about putting yourself and your camera in places where few, if any others, have been before. For years I visualized and desired a image of Cape fur seals surfing the waves that crash into Africa's southern tip, and I wanted to show this behavior from the #underwater perspective. After many failed attempts I finally found the proverbial pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. One day the ocean turned clear and the swell was large and beefy enough for the seals to surf, but not so big that every wave would pound me into the rocky reef—only every fourth or fifth wave did that...This was one of the first images I made of this behavior, and I spent another three hours shooting in these epic conditions.
