❗️It’s the final week to see “Armenia!” at The Met, on view through this Sunday, January 13. #MetArmenia is first major exhibition to explore the remarkable artistic and cultural achievements of the #Armenian people in a global context over 14 centuries. Among the roughly 140 objects on view is this manuscript showing Gregory of Tat‘ev (Grigor Tat‘evats‘i), the headmaster of the university attached to the monastery of Tat‘ev in Greater Armenia, surrounded by his students. Founded in 1345 by Gregory and his teacher Yovhannes Orotnets‘i, this university developed into one of the most important intellectual centers in #Armenia.⁣
