We're channeling #JohnSingerSargent's sleepy subjects this morning as we take advantage of this extra #daylightsavings hour. Sargent painted reclining or sleeping figures throughout this career. The rise of leisure—the ability to relax rather than work—was a sign of modernity that Sargent embraced through his depiction of quiet interludes, indoors and out, where figures unwind and take part of the small comforts of life. Here's to embracing modernity (and sleeping in).⠀
