Right now, Dorothy's Ruby Slippers are in this custom-made box in our Conservation Lab while we prepare their case, lighting, and new gallery on our third floor. The shoes return to display on Friday, October 19. Wear your red shoes and join us.

Dawn Wallace, our good witch of object conservation, spent over 200 hours cleaning each sequin, securing threads, and stabilizing the shoes so they can be on display for generations to come. While the "sequin by sequin sequence" was a lot of work, she says she'll miss having their sparkle around the lab. We're somewhere over the rainbow to be able to put them back on display.
