Even in the peak of summer, ice lingers on the tidal flats as the sun glides in a continuous circle low on the horizon. Tundra researchers have been coming here every summer here since 1980, a polar oasis home to one of the longest running (and now widespread) experiments in Arctic plant ecology. After a long day in the field, we all take a turn at cooking and doing dishes. While I generally love cooking, this is one of the first times I’ve also looked forward to cleaning up the mess.
