Here at The Unleashed Studio, the unverified and official home of my #YearOfTheDogs project, our staff (my wife Callie and me) sorts through the hundreds of comments, photographs, direct messages and e-mails we receive daily to create the engaging content that appears on my @Instagram feed on a consistently occasional basis.

Many people make incredible claims about their dogs, yet not many will drive over a thousand miles to prove it.
Such is the case of Sammy, a cultured and wise 14 year-old yellow Labrador who visited us recently from the great state of Texas where he was born, bred, raised and still has voting privileges.

Among his many interests, Sammy has a soft spot for opera, loves it actually and with all due respect to Maestro Pavarotti, he prefers the sopranos to the tenors.
When you look into the eyes of an old dog, you can learn a lot of things, but none of those things have any thing to do with opera or even classical music.

So Callie and I “Spotified” up some Kiri Te Kanawa and Sammy was instantly mesmerized by her performance of O mio babbino caro from Puccini’s “Gianni Schicchi.” This photograph was made during the playing of this aria, I Schicchi you not.

Update: It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Sammy , he will be missed.
