Pour cette 3e édition autour des arts de la table, nous partageons avec vous la Grande salle à manger des appartements Napoléon III.

Les appartements dits Napoléon III du Louvre furent aménagés par l'architecte Lefuel, de 1856 à 1861. Ils étaient dévolus aux réceptions ; ainsi cette salle à manger ne servait que pour les grands repas. Imposante et ostentatoire, cette salle est un témoignage exceptionnel de l'art décoratif sous le Second Empire. Le plafond, un ciel lumineux traversé par des oiseaux exotiques, a été réalisé par Eugène Appert.

? We celebrate today the #PalaceDay ! For this year's edition dedicated to the tableware, we share with you the large dining room of the Napoleon III apartments.

The so-called Napoleon III apartments in the Louvre are the work of the architect Lefuel, and were installed between 1856 and 1861. They were intended for receptions, so this dining room was used only for banquets. Imposing and ostentatious, this room is an exceptional record of Second Empire decorative art. The painted ceiling, a luminous sky traversed by exotic birds, is by Eugène Appert.
