Few predators are fast enough to catch impala. Leopards are perhaps their greatest danger. Gorongosa has very few leopards so impala proliferate. Years of civil war and heavy poaching has devastated certain species in the park. Great efforts are now being made to protect the park and bring predators back. The aim now - to bring balance back to the eco-system.
