A little #bluesday inspiration from #bkmislamicart: This dish dates to the Safavid period in Iran, when local potters were experimenting with ways to recreate Chinese blue-and-white porcelain for a domestic market. Without access to the materials required to achieve porcelain, fritware, a mixture of ground quartz, clay, and ground glaze, was developed. The blue decoration was executed in cobalt and the coiled dragon floating on a bed of flowers are yet another example of the influence of Chinese motifs. #infinitebluebkm ?⠀
