Photo by @anandavarma. A wooly false vampire bat exits its home in an abandoned Mayan temple to hunt for the night. These carnivorous bats eat small mammals, birds, and other bats, often bringing back unfinished prey to share with the other members of their small family groups. This photo was taken near the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve in the Yucatán peninsula of Mexico as part of a story on the research that @rodrigomedellin1223 and his team are doing to understand carnivorous bats.
