Photo by @CarltonWard // I set a camera trap in the Fakahatchee Strand aiming to capture a Florida panther navigating the mysterious swamp. It was completely dry last spring. Then 17 inches of rain fell in the first week of June, quickly filling the strand with water. Panthers moved to higher ground but the same rains gave this alligator freedom to roam through its watery wilderness. Swipe right to see intern @malia_byrtus testing the camera in this same site just a few days before the gator came through.
