Video @Keith Ladzinski & @andy_mann / When you consider the sport of ice climbing, chances are most of you are thinking “No thank you” - The odds are even further stacked that Michigan doesn’t come to mind as a destination, mainly because this is an activity generally associated with the mountains. Munising MI, however is an ideal haven for the sport, primarily due to the wetlands that crown the top of the cliff-line here. As these swamps drain they freeze, bonding ice to the walls and creating ideal climbing opportunities right over #LakeSuperior, in shocking abundance. Accessing these routes is an adventure all of its own, long approaches on skis, snow shoes or post-holing through the wilderness for miles. @angela_vanwiemeersch and @サッシャ・ディギーリアン are no stranger to adventure, seen here taking full advantage of this icy venue.
