When a disaster hits, many Americans turn to Spanish language TV for news. Anchor Jose Diaz-Balart wore this red windbreaker while reporting on Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma, and the recent earthquake in Mexico in Spanish, for Telemundo.

The windbreaker recently joined the collection, along with artifacts from Telemundo and locally owned stations, as part of our Spanish language broadcasting initiative. Says Curator Kathleen Franz, "Documenting the contributions of Spanish-language broadcasters and how they influenced the national narrative, this collection and its companion oral histories will change the way the history of American television is written." The jacket and other Telemundo objects will not be on immediate display. Stay tuned for updates.
