Lightning storms are frequent throughout the summer and a major case of wild fires. Sage brush has suffered severely from increased burning due to invasive cheat grass, which when dry turns the landscape into a tinder box. The sage brush eco-system is the dominant landscape of the west and a hugely important eco-system - home to sage grouse, golden eagles, bobcats, rattlesnakes and many more.
