Natural gas is burned to produce electricity and to desalinate seawater for drinking. Dubai’s Electricity & Water Authority plans to scale up on more energy efficient way of desalinating by reverse osmosis that can be powered by solar electricity. Dubai is on a mission to make this notoriously unsustainable city to be one of the greenest in the world in the next decades.
