Photo @Cory Richards Climbing without oxygen at or above 8,000 meters is always a balance. As the body moves higher, it's ability to adapt decreases, as do healing processes and mental faculties. It's a fringe world where the margin for error decreases to zero and the likelihood of error increases exponentially with every step. Self preservation, fear, desire, ego, athletics... it all melts away into a singular motion: up. Until it's time to go down. Either you make it to the top, or you don't. In climbing, the summit does matter. @adrianballinger moving up into the wind and high moisture while acclimatizing on Everest's North side. The movement up and down helps the body adapt... but at some point, our physiology simply can't do anymore. At this point, we are back down in basecamp recovering before this year's no oxygen summit attempt. Follow the climb on Snapchat at EverestNoFilter and @adrianballinger and @Cory Richards
