A Baobab tree and the milky way, Botswana. Baobabs trees store water in the trunk (up to 120,000 litres or 32,000 US gallons) to endure tough droughts. Please go to @mattiasklumofficial to see a hippo "hair flip"...Baobabs produce faint growth rings, most likely annually, but they are not reliable for aging purposes, because they are difficult to count and usually fade away as the wood ages. Radiocarbon dating has provided data on a few individuals though. A specimen known as Grootboom was dated and found to be at least 1275 years old, making it one of the oldest known angiosperm trees in the world.
