With a snowy Nor’easter possibly heading our way tonight, we're stocking up on our favorite snacks just in case. This apple crate label for "Red Z" apples caught our eye. This crate label was used by the C.M. Holtzinger Fruit Company of Yakima, Washington, during the early 20th century. These apples came from the Wenatchee Valley region, an area that claimed to be the "Apple Capital of the World." Does your hometown claim to be the "capital" of something? ❄️?? Holtzinger also used a Blue Z brand apple crate label but we aren't sure what was the difference was between the Red and Blue apples. ?? Have a great Sunday, however you're spending it, history fans! ?? #RedAndBlack #SmithsonianFood #FoodHistory #Apples #Typography #SundayFont #AdHistory #AdvertisingHistory #DCweather #AppleCapital
