A close-up portrait of a Lesser Kestrel chick. People used to harvest the eggs and chicks in Basilicata, for eating, but things are better today. Locals often rescue fallen chicks, particularly in the town of Matera, where every springtime a thousand couples migrate from South Africa to this ancient town for nesting.
