This scene is happening daily in this region and elsewhere in central Africa. With human population growth comes expansion and the conversion of forests to farms. The only remaining patch of natural forest here is along a small river and It's also the only water source for the villagers during the dry season. It's this overlap between children and aggressive males that can escalate into chimps attacking children, sometimes fatally.
