Photograph by @paulnicklen. A large chunk of ice heaves and rolls in the swells off the coast of Svalbard, Norway. I wanted to shoot a long shutter speed to create motion and energy in the image as the cold seawater rushed through the channel. The shots were not working from the boat so I had to carefully ride this small iceberg so my camera would be in synch with the motion of the rolling berg. Why do you think these perfect little dimples exist in this piece of ice? Why is it translucent and such a beautiful color of blue?
