In spite of its run-down looks, Tarlabasi is a vibrant cultural kaleidoscope of migrant workers from Anatolia, Roma, Greeks, African immigrants and many others. But this diverse social fabric is being torn apart. As a result of an urban development initiative, entire building blocks in Tarlabasi have been sold off, transforming the streets into ghostly barracks, pending reconstruction.
