Photograph by @Thomas Peschak Between foraging trips out to sea African penguins rest on the rocky shores of Mercury Island, Namibia. The guano (poop) they excrete is rich in nitrogen and fertilizes the marine realm that surrounds the island. Seaweeds and mussels grow more quickly and limpets ( a type of sea snail) grow to much larger sizes on islands with penguins and other seabirds. Shot on assignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック magazine. @thephotosociety @natgeocreative
