The Palio di Siena is a semi-annual horse race held in Siena, Italy. The race, where jockeys ride bareback horses through the Piazza del Campo, has been a tradition in Italy since the 14th century. Before the parade, the Corteo Storico takes place, a costume parade created almost 500 years ago to celebrate the greatness of the republic of Siena.
