Photo by @Gerd Ludwig. Fluctuating water levels and the increased salinity of California’s Salton Sea have led to an environmental decay that is now nearing catastrophic dimensions. Here, partially submerged remnants, like this dune buggy, are encrusted with salt. I’ve photographed the Salton Sea repeatedly over the past years and witnessed many changes over time.
