This was shot awhile ago, but just like any picture, it immediately transports me back to that day, early in my Nat Geo assignment on Brazil's #quilombo communities (published in 2012). We had just finished photographing at a family’s rural home when we came across this scene. I said hello, moved into position and got lucky as the young man ran past me on my right.
