Photo by @shonephoto (Robbie Shone) - At almost 3000m (9850ft) asl, the entrance of El Cenote (cave) is a large depression perched on the top of Conturines - Spitze in the Italian Dolomites. Once established at base camp, we divided our time throughout a coupe of days and nights working in small groups. The first group installed the ropes down the 280m (920ft) deep shaft to reach the big chamber at the bottom. The second group followed an hour later and installed an aluminium triangular platform on a wall halfway down the pit for the 3D laser scanner to sit on. The first two teams worked through the night, returning to the surface at 8am. The third team then entered the cave to take photographs and survey the room with a high precision laser scanner. As the third team returned to the surface a fourth and final team entered the cave to de-rig the ropes and help carry bags of heavy equipment out.
