Photo by @mike_hettwer - Burning Man is one of the great cultural events of the world. There are dozens of art installations and some of the largest sculptures I have ever seen. Attendees can climb the sculptures like these two men did – at their own risk. The sculptures were created by Karen Cusolito and Dan Das Mann.

More than 65,000 people gather in the Black Rock Desert in northern Nevada for Burning Man each September around Labor Day in the US. They build a temporary city and later remove all traces of anyone ever being there. Most attendees camp out in tents or sleep in recreational vehicles bringing all their own food and supplies for the week. The parties go on all night and all day.
The event originally started on a San Francisco beach in 1986 with about twenty people attending and has grown huge, selling out every year. The name comes from the ritual of burning a 100-foot tall wooden effigy of a man.
