Barnacles are an incredibly resilient type of arthropod, related to crabs and lobsters. Typically found clinging to permeant fixtures feeding on plankton and other micro foods. Their shells can be razor sharp from the constant polish of the sea. Fossilized barnacles can be traced as far back as 500 million years during the Middle Cambrian period.
