August 2009. The west branch of the Columbia Glacier, pouring out of the heart of the Chugach Mountains of Alaska. The #glacier dynamics here are wildly interesting and extremely dramatic. In the last 3 years alone, the west branch has retreated approximately 3 miles! Over the course of 30 years, the main branch of the glacier has deflated over 1,000 feet and retreated over 10 miles.
