#NationalFossilDay Puzzle 3/6: You are what you eat, but how you eat can also tell us a lot! The shape and number of teeth, and also where they are worn down, are important clues about the animal’s ancestry, what the animals ate, and how they interacted with the environment and other organisms. Pointed teeth are good for puncturing, and teeth with large surface areas are good for grinding. The front teeth (to the left) on this mammal are rather pointed, but the back teeth are more dull and bulb-like.
