NASA’s Search and Rescue Mission office, located at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, is testing Emergency Locator Transmitters (ELT) in severe, yet survivable plane accidents.
NASA is working to improve current ELT performance at a system level. The accident, which occurred at the NASA’s Langley Research Center, tested how impact will affect current ELTs.
The Search and Rescue Mission Office is looking at what improvements can be made in antenna connections, materials, and crash sensor performance.
