$ホーランド・ロデンのインスタグラム：「Tips to KiteSurfing! (From someone JUST starting) My first lesson was about 4 hours split up into two days where I master the look of a melting walrus wearing a life vest getting up on a wakeboard for the first time. BUT! I digress- HERE IS WHAT I LEARNED at @airxkite school in Mandelieu la Napoule France- 1. Leave your dignity at the door re: 👆 (kidding that’s actually my advice not theirs) 2. They split up the board and the kite in your first lesson. So for the first two hours I was just working with the kite in the water in an exercise called “body dragging”. (You also learn that pulling the kite bar towards you speeds you up and away from you slows you down- which cannn be very counter intuitive at first) enter 👉 my hair line fractured ankle (but not from this kite surfing trip). Again. Counter intuitive for a while folks!! Haha. You learn to get the hang of the kite while body dragging - that is until… 3. The next day you are on the wakeboard. I ironically found this easier than I thought it would be at least behind the boat although my stance is quite funny. Sit back and let the boat (or future kite) carry you up don’t try to pull. Once you put the two disciplines together there is yet another learning curve! But a really fun challenge that an injury won’t deter me from pursuing! Coming soon is my kite surfing my trip in Egypt!
