Our proposal for a fascinating period drama: "Call the Frontier Nurse Midwife." It would be based on the true story of midwives who traveled by horse around rural Kentucky, using their training to deliver babies for women too isolated to travel to hospitals.
They carried all their supplies with them, including a little pocket scale to hook onto baby's diaper and weigh her.
