This gilded cartonnage mask of the high-ranking lady Satdjehuty depicts her transformed into the divine state that she expected to attain after death. The gilding and blue hair are characteristics of Egyptian gods, and the winged headdress may signify divine protection. The smiling face and delicate features are typical of sculpture of the early 18th Dynasty (c. 1550–1295 BC). The hieroglyphic inscriptions ask the gods Osiris and Anubis to provide food offerings and a ‘good burial’ for Satdjehuty.
