PORTER STANDでは「旅」というコンセプトを元にPostがセレクトした写真集を販売しています。
本日はその中から「Pangnirtung」をご紹介いたします。
1992年8月、ロバート・フランクの友人であるレジナルド・ランキンはフランクを北極圏に位置するパンクナータングへ招きました。
本書は、フランクの5日間の滞在をドキュメントしたものです。
スティル・ハーバー、公共住宅、コンビニエンスストア、電柱などセンチメンタルとは無縁な写真は、フランク自らによる短いテキストによって形付けられています。
日常や近しい人たちをスナップする彼の作品とはひと味違う、旅の途中だからこそ撮ることができたシリーズです。

At PORTER STAND we carry photobooks selected by POST under a concept of "TRIP".
Among the selections, today we would like to introduce "Pangnirtung".
In August 1992 Robert Franks's good friend Reginald Rankin invited Robert Frank on a trip to Pangnirtung which is located on the Arctic Circle.
This book documents Frank's 5-day stay at Pangnirtung.
Still Harbour, public houses, convenience stores, and lightpoles are far apart from sentimental, but it is introduced along with Frank's short texts.
These are different from his other pieces with daily life and snap shots of his friends. Moreover, they are photos that he was only able to take during trips.
