It's time for the next in our #MuseumOfTheFuture series of gallery spaces. This is Room 14, Greek vases. Andokides, whose signed vase is displayed in this room, was the leader of an innovative group of potters and painters working in Athens in the late 6th century BC. At this time, a number of new ideas were introduced the decoration of pottery. Most important was the red-figure technique, which featured figures reserved in red against a black background.
The objects on display in Room 14 include Athenian pottery depicting hunting, dancing and mythology.
