Complicated Crater --- The violence of an impact doesn't stop when the object hits. This crater bears signs of landslides that happened after an object struck the moon. Cascading down the crater walls are channels that are interwoven like strands of a braid. Such channels are signs of material sliding downhill. Large boulders at the bottom of the crater are another telltale sign of material falling down the crater wall. Melted rock formed from the heat generated by impact itself pooled and solidified at the center of the crater. Some of the jumbled blocks on the crater floor also show signs of melting, while other blocks were thrown out of the crater by the force of the impact. #nasa #nasagoddard #moon #space
