One effective way to sabotage a political debate is to start a fire in the middle of a government building.
Politicians in Albania have clearly cottoned onto this, having spent the past couple of weeks lighting fires and smoke bombs in the country’s parliament, in order to disrupt a string of key debates.

His allies then sparked smoke bombs to disrupt a debate about Albania’s 2024 government budget. On Monday, opposition politicians threw lit cigarettes and started another fire in a trash can, in support of Berisha. Those same politicians have now been threatened with legal action for their fire-starting.
